HELP WANTED!!

DSC 0097Are you looking for a job with no pay, but great fringe benefits? Is a wagging tail and a wet kiss from someone who’s truly glad to see you enough of a reward for a few hours of your time every week?  Is knowing what you are doing is saving lives and bringing happiness to animals and humans alike worth a few hours of your time?  Do you need someone to talk to who won’t tell your secrets?

If so …Animal Rescue League of El Paso wants you – no experience necessary!
We cannot function without volunteers.   We need people in all aspects of our endeavors to ensure as many animals are saved as possible and placed in happy, loving and permanent homes.

DSC 0624CAN ONLY ADULTS VOLUNTEER?
No, but you must be at least 13 years old to volunteer with Animal Rescue League (even with a parent or guardian).  In addition, anyone under 18 years old must attend the volunteer orientation with their parent or guardian.   We do require that volunteers under 18 years old have a parent or guardian with them at all times while volunteering with us.  This is for the safety of the volunteer as well as the animals.

HOW MUCH TIME DOES VOLUNTEERING TAKE?
The commitment of time depends on you!  You can volunteer as little as one hour a week or as much as you can spare.  Some areas, such as foster or orphan animal care, require a pledge to be responsible for the animal on a daily basis.  Other areas, such as being an adoption counselor require only two to four hours a month. We do ask that you commit to volunteering a minimum of six hours a month for three months.

HOW DO YOU GET STARTED?
All volunteers are required to attend a mandatory volunteer orientation prior to volunteering with Animal Rescue League.  Orientation will teach you about the different areas of ARL and about our policies and procedures.  Orientation classes are held once a month at our shelter.
For upcoming dates for Volunteer Orientation please check our calendar of events.

Volunteer orientation is limited to 20 people per session.  Please email volunteer@arlep.orgto get more information and reserve your spot!

Once you have signed up for orientation, please make sure to download a copy of our volunteer application, fill it out and bring it with you.  You can download the application by clicking on “Volunteer Application” on the left side navigation menu.

NEED VERIFICATION OF YOUR COMMUNITY SERVICE?
Joint Task Force groupWe appreciate the hard work that our volunteers do at our shelter.  If at any time you need a letter verifying your community service hours, we would be more than happy to provide one for you.  Please email volunteer@arlep.org at least one week prior to the date you need the letter with the specifics and we will get you a signed letter on our letterhead.  Please make sure to either attach a scanned copy of your signed service log with the hours that you have volunteered to the email or drop off a copy at the shelter.

DOES ARL HAVE SPECIAL PROJECTS FOR LARGE GROUPS OR SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS?
Yes!  Many school organizations, scout troops and church groups have come out to the shelter.  You would need to send an email to volunteer@arlep.org to set up a special project for your group at the shelter.  Other ways groups and service organizations help out is by collecting food items, cleaning supplies and other much needed items for the shelter off of our Wish List.
