We always encourage you to visit our shelter to meet and interact with all of our adoptable animals. If you have seen someone on-line that you are interested in and would like to submit an application prior to your visit to our shelter, please click on the link below. Once completed, please fax your application back to our adoption coordinator at 915-877-1923. Often times, we have many applications submitted for the same pet, especially when they are puppies/kittens.
The initial step in our adoption process is the online adoption application or an
in-person interview at our shelter or any of our off-site adoption locations. The online form must be filled out completely including a veterinarian reference and 2 personal non-family references. If this is the first time you will own a pet, please take the time to research veterinarians in your area and provide the name and number of the veterinarian you plan on using.
Your application will be reviewed and it may take a few days for our volunteers to respond. Please note that submission of an adoption application does not guarantee approval for adoption. Animal Rescue League of El Paso, Inc. reserves the right to decline an application and/or adoption and may also require a home check and further documentation for consideration.
For out of town adopters, please note that we do not ship our pets. You will need to make any transportation arrangements if approved to adopt.
From time to time, we will receive multiple applications for the same pet. Please be aware that our animal adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis.
Our sole purpose is to find the best match for the animals that fall under our care. We will carefully review all applications and check veterinary/personal references. We do contact your veterinarian references to ensure that current and/or deceased pets were/are properly taken care of; this means being current on all vaccinations, on heartworm preventative and spayed/neutered.
If you have been approved to adopt, we may schedule a home visit and/or a follow up visit. A home visit and/or a follow up visit may be required to ensure that your home is everything you say it is on the adoption application. It needs to be a suitable safe environment for your new pet.
If approved for adoption each adoptive family is asked to complete and sign an adoption contract. You will be provided with a resource information and a guide containing solutions to the most common behavioral/pet issues. Our shelter staff is available to assist with any questions/issues you may have once you take your new pet home.
***Animal Rescue League of El Paso reserves the right to deny any applications that we deem unfit or unsuitable for the animal. Please be aware that our animal adoptions are NOTon a first come- first serve basis. It is our mission to provide a suitable match between pets and adopters to ensure a lifelong, loving commitment.
